  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance, pending approval by the trip organizer

Registration is closed

To successfully register, you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group, if you intend to wear a spray skirt.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Narrative: Join Dave Smith and myself for a trip on the Willamette River in Newberg. We will launch from Rogers Landing County Park in Newberg and head upstream to the confluence with the Yamhill River. At this time of year the current is very mild, perhaps picking up a bit as we approach the Yamhill River. This trip goes through rural and agricultural land with lots of take-out opportunities, if needed. Current water temperature at Newberg is 66 degrees and likely to get a bit warmer before the trip. Hard to predict the weather at this point, but likely to be warm and sunny. On summer weekends, boat traffic can be busy so that is why we are making this a weekday trip. Bring lunch/snacks and plenty of water. Parking is free at Rogers Landing and bathrooms are available. With the warmer water temperatures, we can do some rescue practice if folks are so inclined. Total distance is about 9 miles. Good post paddle refreshment opportunities nearby.
