Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance, pending approval by the trip organizer.

Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Narrative: Dave Smith has graciously volunteered to join me on a Sunday tour of the lower Columbia launching from the Aldrich Point boat ramp. We will paddle up the Clifton channel on a rising tide to the upper end of Tenasillahe Island where we will look for an easy landing and take a leisurely lunch. After food we will continue around Tenasillahe down river. Depending on conditions and group strength we might consider crossing the main channel to Skamokawa; Otherwise we will continue downstream and around Welch Island, within the boundary of the Lewis and Clark Wildlife refuge before working our way back to Aldrich Point. Total distance is likely 11-15 miles. I like to keep a moderately brisk group pace, with opportunities to view wildlife and bio-breaks. Please consider your level of conditioning to paddle at group pace over distance before signing up...
