Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance, pending approval by the trip organizer

Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Narrative: Can you paddle a figure-eight? Good, because we’ll do a four-mile long one, starting in the middle at George Rogers Park. We'll first head north to Elk Rock, then turn around and go back to George Rogers park for a lunch break. Next we’ll work our way upriver past Hog Island to Cedaroak Boat Ramp where there are beach areas and bathrooms. With a boost from the river current, we’ll head back to George Rogers for our takeout.

We'll launch at 11:00 a.m. and likely be off the water by 4:00 p.m. or a bit earlier. This will be nine to ten miles round-trip. High tide should be around 3:00 p.m. River flow is moderate; we’ll progress more slowing heading upstream but make up for it heading back. Bring along a lunch or snack.

We'll launch from Lake Oswego’s George Rogers Park, because there is ample free parking. There is a path that goes near the bathrooms and down to the beach. Bring your wheels and share them with others, too.

I have specified a farmer john wetsuit as the minimal immersion gear. Please chat with me if you feel something else would be more appropriate for you. We will observe the Four Ps: Please Plan to be a Pod Participant! If you are a lone wolf, this is not the trip for you.
