This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.Narrative: Come join us for a paddle in the Stunning Columbia River Gorge. The Beauty of the gorge is easily appreciated from Stevenson. If conditions favor, we will launch from cascade boat ramp and make our way upriver along the Washington side towards Wind River. We can paddle close along the shoreline so we can best admire the rock formations and of course practice strokes or a rescue or two if you like. There are several lovely small rock islands and small coves with rocky beaches for a break. We will return before reaching Wind River and can go back the way we came along shore or take a more direct route down the river. At times, the river here can be still and silent, glassy as a lake...other times, the wind can create an entirely different environment. We will be keeping the forecast in mind and plan accordingly. An after paddle gathering is planned at a local Stevenson establishment. **please note that 10am is our launch time after the safety brief, so adjust your arrival time as needed.
