Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Narrative:
Join Joe Howell and me for a St Paddy's day paddle on Lake Merwin. Wearing the color green is optional. This is a reservoir nestled in scenic green hills along the Lewis River. We'll launch from Speelyai Bay Recreation Area at the boat ramp. From there we'll head out to the lake, turn east and paddle towards the Dam. Along the way there are waterfalls and a bridge we'll pass under before we reach Canyon Creek. We can explore a short distance up Canyon Creek before turning around to find a spot on the lake for our lunch. After lunch, we'll meander back to our launch. If we have time we can explore the hatchery a short distance up Speelyai Bay. Expect afternoon winds to pick up on the lake in the range of 5-8 mph. Total trip distance will be about 9 miles. Our plan is to paddle rain or shine. Only high winds and/or lightening will keep us off the water.
