This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.Narrative: Join Bob Freshman and me for a paddle on the Columbia River. It will be the day after Oregon's 160th birthday. What better way to celebrate Oregon's bounty than on the iconic river of the northwest? We'll launch from M Gleason Boat Ramp on Marine Dr in Portland and paddle upstream passing the airport on our way to Gov't Island where we'll take out for lunch and respite. On our way back we'll have the current providing some assist. Total distance for the day will be approximately 8 miles. Weather is unpredictable, so our plan is to launch rain or shine. Only high winds and/or thunderstorms will keep us off the water. Parking is $5. Restrooms are available.
