This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.Narrative: Please join me for a leisurely paddle on the North Fork Reservoir of the Clackamas River. We’ll launch at the marina boat launch*. We’ll first head north (downstream) to the culvert and lagoon, then return to the marina for our lunch break. After lunch, we’ll paddle upstream to where the reservoir transitions to the crystal clear water of the more shallow river. Our turning point upstream depends on the current. This trip features waterfalls and steep cliffs along with more open vistas at the northern stretch of our route. Plan on 3-4 hours of paddling in the 6-8 mile range. *If the gate to the marina parking lot is closed, please wait there. There is limited or no cell reception on North Fork Reservoir. We’ll decide at 9:45 a.m. whether to wheel our boats down or move to another launch area on the reservoir. Bring wheels if you have them.
