Comments and Discussion
This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.Narrative: This trip will be participating in a Salmon River clean-up effort put on by Solve Oregon and as an extra bonus/encouragement to come, we will play in some ocean surf/waves afterwards. Anyone is welcome to come to the first half of the trip, the Salmon River Clean-up (level 2 by itself, no helmet required). The level 3 surf portion is waitlist-only, but feel free to come out and help with the clean-up anyway, the event page is at: https://www.solveoregon.org/opportunity/a0C1I00000F0KXj. The clean-up event ends at 1pm back at Knight Park and you are welcome to take off at that time. Otherwise, we will return to our kayaks and paddle to the mouth of the Salmon, eat a quick lunch and surf our hearts out for another couple of hours. For the post clean-up ocean play, this is will be a level 3 trip and helmets are required. The more combat rolling experience you have, the more we can help you learn to surf better before Lumpy. Some snacks will be provided for the clean-up by Solve Oregon, but pack a lunch for the surfing afterwards if you plan to continue the fun.
