Narrative: We'll launch from MacKaye Harbor Boat Launch at 9am paddling along the south side of Lopez Island passing Jones Bay and Davis Bay and some small islands as we move towards Cattle Pass. We will cross from Davis Point on Lopez Island to Cattle Point, San Juan Island, about a one mile open crossing. We will start the crossing just before slack at the beginning of the ebb. After a lunch break at Cattle Point on the return crossing we may have current of approximately one knot and will retrace our path back to MacKaye Harbor Boat Launch. Total distance will be about 10 miles. Parking at the launch is free and should be ample. I will know more about restrooms at the event. In the event of strong winds, we may forgo the Cattle Pass crossing and explore the southern part of Lopez and some other bays and small islands nearby.
