We’ll launch from Odlin’s beach, head north around the northernmost tip of Lopez Island, past the ferry terminal, then head south to the protected water by Spencer Spit State Park. We’ll cross Shoal Bay on our way out, but may explore it on our return. This will allow more time for Swifts Bay and the small islands by Spencer Spit. We’ll allow time for a leisurely lunch so that we can explore the spit or park on foot. Some folks may prefer a nap. Our trip to Spencer Spit will be about six miles. Our return trip may be a little longer, depending on how we go about exploring Swifts Bay and Shoal Bay. Currents and tidal exchange will be minimal; currents should not exceed 0.4 knots and will mostly be less. Bring a lunch. We’ll launch at 10:15 a.m. SHARP and should be back to camp by 4 p.m. There are gaps in the ferry schedule from about 11 a.m to 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 3:40 pm. We’ll use those gap times to go around Upright Head.
