Narrative: It's been a long while since I've paddled this beautiful piece of the Clackamas River. Please join me for a late morning / early afternoon leisurely paddle up to where the river begins to narrow and some current is experienced. We will paddle upstream as long as we can and while everyone remains comfortable. If we're about to run aground or the current becomes a challenge, then we'll head back to the culvert and pass through to the middle fork of the river.
There is ample parking at Promontory Park, restrooms and a restaurant. The boat ramp at the Park will be our put in.
I'm not requiring minimum immersion protection, but be aware the water is from remaining snow melt on Mt. Hood and can be cool - 60 to 65 degrees F - so use your judgment and dress appropriately to keep yourself comfortable if immersed. Temperature at the Estacada gauge is 64 deg.
