Narrative: We’ll paddle round-trip to Willamette Falls from the Cedaroak Boat Ramp. With an outgoing tide the entire time we’re on the water, we’ll work a bit heading up to the falls, but it’s not difficult. We’ll launch at 10:00 a.m. and tuck behind Cedaroak and Goat Islands going upstream. We’ll break for a snack on Goat Island on our way upstream, and maybe do the same on our way back. Just call one of them “lunch”!

There is generally a huge eddyline that’s fun to play in toward the far end of the base of the falls. Unless another Trip Organizer signs on, we won’t be venturing into any lumpy waters any closer to the falls than that, and nothing over Level 2 even then. Anyone that plans to get lumpy will be required to wear a helmet.
The tide and current will be in our favor on the return leg of our journey. We’ll be back at the boat ramp around 2:00 p.m., after paddling about 8 miles. If we have time, and for those who are interested (I hope that’s everyone), the lagoon at Cedaroak is a great place for some rescue practice.

We will observe the Four Ps: Please Plan to be Pod Participant! If you are a lone wolf, this is not the trip for you. This Level 2 trip is suitable for boats 12 ft. and longer; no inflatables, please. Intermediate-advanced SUP paddlers who can keep up with kayaks are welcome.
