Narrative:
Are you a new member or haven’t had the opportunity to paddle with the club? Are you a member interested in welcoming others or just looking for a fun Saturday paddle on the river with friends and food?
We invite you all to come join us Saturday July 7th for the (New Member Paddle and Potluck, Reed Island/Columbia River).
Hope you will join us for this Columbia River paddle. Launching from the dock at Steamboat Landing Park in Washougal, we plan to paddle up the Columbia River to Reed Island, a 500 acre 2.5 mile state park that lies to the south of Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge on the Washington side. Our journey will take us up the channel to the east end of the island where we can land for our potluck lunch (culinary masterpieces not required). You will have the opportunity to meet other OOPS members, make paddling connections, and learn more about the club. The inside of the channel is always a good place to practice strokes and on a clear day offers impressive Mt. Hood views. Our round trip will be about 6-8 miles.
Please note the dock at steamboat landing park is open but not large, so we will be organized in our launching. This launch in Washougal is not to be confused with the marina of the same name in Vancouver. (while not required please bring a towline if you have one)
