Activity Title: Video Stroke Analysis Class
Date of Activity:  6/3/2018
Narrative: We have worked with people on their strokes for many years as part of our instructor training workshops. A highlight of that training (ask anyone who’s been through one of our workshops) is the video stroke analysis. It is valuable, and sometimes a bit painful, to see your strokes on a screen for everyone to dissect. All of us have “issues” with our strokes and in our experience, there is no better way to understand those “issues” than to see it visually.

This full day class will start at the Sauvie Island Boat ramp in the morning (be ready to launch at 9:30 AM). We will paddle up river a couple miles to Pat’s house pausing along the way to review the foundational strokes of kayaking (sweep, forward, reverse, draws, rudders, braces, rolls). Then after a short break we will video tape the strokes. We will take an extended lunch break at Pat’s house (isn’t she wonderful to volunteer her place for this?) to eat and review the video. Then we’ll get on the water and work on the “issues” we found in the videos as we work our way back to the boat ramp. We should be off the water by 4:00 PM.
