PT Level 3 - Circumnavigate Protection Island

Narrative: We will meet at the Fort Worden campground to solidy the group, then drive to the Gardiner Boat Ramp to launch into Discovery Bay, and head north to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We will paddle out to and around Protection Island (which is a wildlife reserve: no landing, stay 200 yards offshore). There is a place on the north facing shore of the Strait near Thompson Spit where we can stop for an on shore lunch and pee break. Note that there is a porta-potty at Gardiner Boat Ramp, but no other restroom facilities along the route. Drinking lots of coffee before the trip might be a bad idea.
Since this trip goes out onto the edge of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, significant wind, wind waves, and choppy seas are possible and probably likely.
