Narrative: I don’t always drive to Portland, but when I do, I like to include a paddle trip. Please join me as we kayak round-trip from West Linn’s Willamette Park, heading upstream, to the “Narrows.” The current should be mild in the back channels and the areas close to shore where we’ll be. This is one of the prettiest sections of the Willamette in the metro area. This will be a relaxed pace paddle so that we can enjoy the scenery. We may find some small eddies to play in—strictly optional. We’ll poke around the various passages and possibly get out of our boats near Rock Island before heading back to Willamette Park. Total river miles will be between 4-6, depending on how much poking we do! Bring along a snack or lunch to eat at the park before we launch if you'd like. If it’s not limited to boats with trailers (seasonal dates) we’ll launch from Bernert Boat Landing. If we can’t launch from there, we'll launch from the small beach area where the Tualatin River enters the Willamette. Paddlers should expect to stay with a pod. Bathrooms are available; free parking. SUPs and boats 10’ and longer are welcome. No inflatables, please (she said with a smile).
