Narrative: PLAY IN THE PASS with Vern. Come play in the water for awhile. Meet at Cornet Bay at 1400 & launch at 1430. Where to? Who knows. We will be paddling against a significant current — a building flood. We will attempt to paddle out around Strawberry Island and then down to Canoe Pass, where, if we make it, we'll play for a little while before eddy hopping down to lunch bay, swinging around the W end of Pass Island and riding the flood through Deception Pass (stopping to play for a bit) back to Cornet Bay.
(And if we don’t make Canoe Pass: No problem. We'll mess about Strawberry Island for awhile and then go back to Cornet Bay.) This is a quick paddle — an opportunity to get our drysuits wet — I would like to be on the beach loading boats onto cars NLT 1630. Helmets and towlines required. Floatation bags recommended. This paddle is for folks who are comfortable in dynamic water and will require a strong forward stroke as well as the skills needed to deal with crossing eddy lines. Smacking kayak into rock is likely.
