Narrative: Join us for a classic Columbia River paddle on Wednesday, April 4th. We will launch from Beacon Rock State Park in Washington at 10:30 a.m. and paddle upstream behind Pierce and Ives Islands to join the Columbia River. There will be an in-coming tide until about 12 p.m. making travel upriver slightly easier. Once we enter the Columbia, we will hug the Washington shoreline for about a mile before crossing over to the Oregon side, lunching near Tanner Creek Fishway. After lunch, we will then make our way down river on the Oregon side of the river until we are across from the north tip of Ives Island. There we will cross back over towards the Island and continue downstream along its southern side until we reach the west end of Pierce Island where we will turn into the channel that takes us back to our launch point. Total distance will be approximately 7 miles. We should be off the water no later than 3 p.m. Our route may be modified depending on weather conditions that day.
