Narrative: Timothy Lake is the largest body of water in the Mount Hood National Forest at 1,550 acres and 3300 feet elevation, and it offers spectacular views of Mount Hood. Our trip will circumnavigate the lake, a distance of approximately 8-9 miles, exploring the coves and the water source for the lake. There are lots of nice spots to go on shore to stretch our legs and have a lunch break. At times, the winds in the afternoon can create some choppy conditions, but we can stay close to the shore to avoid the waves if needed. At this time of the year, the water is still quite cold, so dry suits are required. We will launch from the Pine Point Day Use Launch. There is a $5 parking fee or free if you have a Northwest Forest Annual Pass. Vault toilets and water are available, but there are no other services or cell reception nearby, so bring water and lunch. There are some good post paddle refreshment options in Government Camp. Weather can be quite variable in early April at this altitude, so we will keep an eye on the conditions as we approach the trip date and notify if any changes will occur.
