Narrative: Join us for a pleasant trip up the Columbia River on Tuesday, 2/13/18. We will launch from the beach just east of the Gleason Boat Ramp located at 4325 NE Marine Dr, Portland. This park provides a convenient public launch in Portland. I suggest parking at the far east end of the parking lot for an easier carry to the beach. From there, we will travel upriver about 4 miles to a takeout for lunch on the south side of Government Island.

Note: there is no shipping traffic on the south side of the island and we will have a flood tide to offset some of the river's current for much of that portion of the trip. Once revitalized on the island, we will get back in our kayaks and journey back to our put-in enjoying the gentle currents of the river along the way. There is a parking fee of $5 (the machines only accept credit cards). Restrooms are nearby.
