Narrative: Beaver Creek is a gentle 2-mile meandering creek about 5 miles south of Newport. We will launch at the boat ramp across Highway 101 from Brian Booth State Park. The creek snakes its way through marshes and woodlands, which are home to river otters, bald eagles, great blue and green-backed herons, belted kingfishers, and even deer, coyote, black bear, and cougar (hopefully the bear and cougar are at long distance).
On our return, if people have an interest, we can head west a short distance, paddling past the state park picnic area and under a footbridge to where the creek meets the beach.
