If you want to learn more about what the US Coast Guard does and how they conduct rescue operations and most importantly, how you can access them when you’re in distress. I had the pleasure of seeing this presentation at Lumpy Waters 2017 and it was both fascinating and a great learning experience. Expect a most interesting evening.

For the past 15 years, Mark Dobney has served in the USCG Command Center, Sector Columbia River/Air Station Astoria dispatching and coordinating responses with boats and aircraft.  Mr. Dobney retired from the USCG after 30 years and having achieved the rank of CW04 Warrant Bosun.  His final posting was as Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard National Motor Lifeboat School in Ilwaco, WA.  This unit teaches the art of boat driving in heavy seas and surf.
