Narrative: We will be able reach the ocean,  play in the river mouth and then explore the estuary and upper river all in one trip.
This paddle will start from Knight County Park where we'll meet at 9:30 a.m., it’s about 10 minutes north of Lincoln City. We'll launch at 10:30 a.m. at low tide and paddle about one mile toward the mouth of the river to a sand spit on the ocean - accessible only by boat. There may be some moderate currents and eddies near the mouth to play in, but usually not too strong. Some people may also choose to play in the swells and currents in the mouth, depending on conditions - it’s optional and not required. Suggest bringing a helmet if you plan on surfing. We will take a break on the beach near the mouth, frequently there are a collection of seals and sea lions in the area, both in the water and on the spit.

After a short stop on the beach we'll head back upriver, now taking advantage of the incoming tide, go past the launch site and continue for a few miles passing under Hwy 101 through scenic open country and some farms with the goal of reaching Otis;  then we'll head back to Knight Park.

The overall length of the paddle will be in the 8-10 mile range. There are vault toilets at Knight Park but no water; parking is free but don’t park in the boat trailer spaces. More details will be sent out prior to the trip. Total trip time 5+ hours. Bring food/snacks and water.
