Around Lake Michigan In A Dugout with guest speakers Mary Catterlin and Amy Lukas

If you spent all of your spare time during four years of college hewing a dugout, by hand, from a very large tree section and christened it Makeba, what would you do with it?  Well, if you’re Mary Catterlin you would gently twist the arm of longtime pal Amy Lukas to paddle, sail, push, pull and occasionally drift ALL the way around Lake Michigan for 93 days.  Experiencing sudden squalls, ambitious surf, high winds, blowing sand, baking sun, concerned parents, perfect days, breathtaking sunsets and helpful strangers while living a truly epic adventure.

And, when safely home, the two of you would curate a 2,000 square foot museum exhibit with artifacts, photographs, charts and videos as professional as anything you would see in an international exhibition.  Then you would release the DVD (Best Amateur Documentary - National Paddling Film Festival).  Followed by the book.  All the while planning the next epic adventure.
