Narrative: We'll put in on the Columbia River at Steamboat Landing Park in Washougal, head downstream into the Camas Slough and around the inside of Lady Island, stopping on Ackerman Island for a break, then on to Government or Lemon Island for lunch, before proceeding to the take-out at Wintler Park. Depending on the water level and the groups inclination we may try to access the narrow waterway into Government Island near the I-205 bridge. Total distance: 12-13 miles. The trip is expected to be conducted at a leisurely pace because of the assist from the river current and outgoing tide (comparable to ~9 flat water miles?). Dress warm! Setting up of a car shuttle will be required prior to launch.
