This sounds like such a fun trip!!

Will we be potlucking or on our own? If potluck, I'll bring a cucumber/tomatoe salad.

    Thanks

Narrative: Join me for a classic South Sound paddle: Walker County Park to Hope Island, but with a twist or three.

Group will paddle from Walker County Park to Hope Island and, TWIST 1, camp on Hope Island. Those not wanting to camp*** can take out at Arcadia boat ramp either before or after lunch [TWIST 2]. [It is about approximately 6.5 nm from Walker County Park to Arcadia boat ramp and about 1.0 nm from the boat ramp to Hope Island.]

We will break camp early Sunday morning so that we can be on the water by 0700 so we can ride the flood back to Walker County Park.

*** there will be a small fee for camping -- bring 1.00$ bills. there may be a small fee for parking at Walker county park overnight.

there is no potable water on Hope Island. Each paddler who is camping will need to bring between 4 and 6 liters of water.

we will not have a camp fire on Hope Island.

If want to come on this overnighter and have not kayak camped before or may need some gear, sign up and send me an email telling me you that you haven't kayak camped or that you need gear. Others of us on the trip can probably come up with extra gear or reasonable alternative. my email address is hohfern@gmail.com.

Now, TWIST 3, for those camping on Hope Island who so desire, a trip within a trip WHICH WILL BE LISTED SEPARATELY: we will circumnavigate Squaxin Island as a night paddle. [If you want to participate in the night paddle, bring a waterproof headlamp and 2 glow sticks: one blue and one yellow and have a means of attaching one glow stick to hat / helmet and a means of attaching the other glow stick to the bow of your kayak.] [ Circumnavigating Squaxin Island from Hope Island is about 9 nm.]

I WILL GET NIGHT PADDLE LISTED LATER TODAY. IF YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR THIS TRIP AND THE OVERNIGHT ON HOPE AND WANT TO DO THE NIGHT PADDLE, SEND ME EMAIL. hohfern@gmail.com

    1. Trip from Walker County Park to Arcadia boat ramp is about 6.5 nm.
    2. Trip from walker County Park to Hope Island and back is about 13 nm.
    3. Trip (2) coupled with circumnavigation of Squaxin Island is about 22 nm.

Note on landings and places to take out: Other than dire emergency, there are no take outs or places to stop (a minor exception or 2) between Walker County park and Arcadia. Also, there is no stopping on Squaxin Island. Squaxin Island is reserved for the Squaxin Island Tribe.

Wear whatever you like on the paddle from Walker County Park to Hope Island. I anticipate it being hot and the water temperature will be fairly high. It will probably be chilly Sunday morning, so you will want fleece with wind breaker at a minimum for the paddle from Hope Island back to Walker county park.
