Full Name:: Lori Stole
Narrative:: We’ll launch into the Columbia River at St Helens, and immediately turn down the Multnomah Channel. With an incoming tide we’ll follow the Channel upriver to JJ Collins Marine Park (Coon Island). We’ll have lunch here – there are supposed to be restrooms. We’ll return along the same route. This is a rural stretch of river. I’m hoping to see lots of birds!
I’ve paddled the first part of this route, but beyond the entrance to Scappoose Bay this will be an exploratory trip for me.

This is a long trip: 15.6 nm round trip (18 miles). Before signing up please assess whether you are able to paddle this distance. Ideally you’ll have at least a 16’ boat, perimeter lines required. Wet exit certification and spray skirts are required, and must be worn at all times.

This is a winter trip. Wear a drysuit with sufficient thermal layers underneath. Bring lunch and all the usual cold weather gear. Hot beverages are good!
Be prepared for a shoretalk at 8:20 and launch at 8:30.

The weather forecast has been a bit unsteady. At the moment it appears that there will be rain through the day. Wind should be at/under 5 kt.
