Narrative:
Let's check out the SE side of Orcas Island. We can play in the pea pods and practice rough water re-entries off of Lawrence Point. (You might read Chaper 18 of "Deep Trouble" first.) We will review / learn some methods for assisted re-entries in rough water prior to getting to Lawrence Point where folks will practice. Participants will also have opportunity to self-rescue in rough water. After our water play, we will stop at Doe Bay resort for food before returning to the put in.
Participants will need a helmet, towline, and paddle float. Floatation bags encouraged. Plan on spending a lot of time in the water.
Parking is tight. Please carpool.
This should be good trip for level 2 paddlers wanting to learn some level 3 skills and for any paddler wanting to have fun.
