This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip. Narrative: Join Dennis Pennell and myself and let’s take advantage of the current on this 10 mile trip on the Willamette. Launch will be from the Boones Ferry Marina and Boat Ramp near Wilsonville. On the route, we will pass the confluence of the Molalla River to the Willamette and then take a lunch break at Hebb Park. After lunch we will continue downstream and go through the Narrows on our way to the takeout. The forecast for the next few days shows about 57 feet gauge height at the Narrows, which is enough to be interesting but not overly challenging, however that may change. There will be some stronger currents and eddies as we pass through the small islands, rock formations and narrow section of the river. You should be comfortable with paddling in this type of environment. I don’t anticipate anything above a Level 2 along the route. This is a very nice section of the Willamette and this time of the year there is generally not much other boat traffic. Take out will be at Willamette Park in West Linn. We will meet at 10 AM at Boones Ferry Marina and set up the car shuttle, launching at 11AM. Also, the plan is to stop and play around some features in the Narrows. Please bring a helmet if you plan on participating in playing around these features. Bring lunch and water for the trip. Good post paddle refreshment options nearby in West Linn.
