Narrative: Week-end paddlers—this one is for you! We'll launch from Speelyai Day Use Area boat launch at 10:00 a.m. and head upstream. Our destination is picturesque Canyon Creek. There are plenty of spots for lunch and breaks. This is a good time to paddle the lake, as the nearby campground is closed and there are few power boats on the water. We may see fishing boats out, but they generally are moving slowing, if at all, while fishing. At least half of our trip is in a no-wake zone. There may be a parking fee; be prepared for that. Unless you’ve brought a trailer, do NOT park in the boat parking spaces (you might receive a ticket); use the single-car spaces. There are vault toilets. This paddle may be out of cell phone range. Your phone’s map app may lose connection. There is decent signage for driving, but keep an eye on your odometer. Bring along lunch. 9-10 miles round-trip. Arrive in time to be ready to launch at 10:00 a.m. This will be a moderately-relaxed pace trip. SUPs, canoes, and boats 10’ and longer are welcome providing that you can maintain a minimum 3 mph paddling speed. We will adhere to safe and effective pod principles.
