This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.Narrative: Join me and Bob Freshman for a paddle on the Columbia River this coming Sunday. The skies look clear, wind is predicted to be moderate and the current is gentle. This is a beautiful place in the Columbia River Gorge just below the Vista House and and a few miles west of Cape Horn on the Washington side. We'll paddle east from Rooster Rock and circumnavigate Sand Island where we can take a break before heading back to our launch. Total distance will be approximately 8 miles. We will paddle east in the morning against a slight current and ebbing tide, but have a current assist on our way back in the afternoon. There is a day use parking fee of $5 paid with a credit card. An Oregon State Parks pass also works. Park at the west end of the parking lot. Restrooms are available.
