July 8, 15, 22, 2017 Kayaking Foundations Class

    Narrative: Designed for people who have just started paddling (Level 1), these classes will explore the fundamentals of paddling a sea kayak. The classes will be given over three days, please sign up only if you can attend all days:
    July 8th, 15th and the 22nd from approximately 9 AM to Noon. The idea is to leave the afternoon free for further practice and exploration.
    The initial outline of the class will look at:
    July 8th:

    • Boat types, shapes, and potential uses
    • Body posture and power transfer
    • Forward and reverse strokes

    July 15th:

    • The Low Brace
    • Edging and edging on the move

    July 22nd:

    • Rudders and Draws
    • Basic journeying and rescues practice

    Please note - this is the initial outline but it may change depending on the needs and desires of the participants.

    Reminder: These classes are designed for the entry level paddlers in our club. For those of you more advanced paddlers, please do not register for these classes - I've heard I can UN-register you! :-)
